Self Swab Guide

Before Administering your Covid-19 test, please ensure you have scanned the provided QR code and completed the electronic form otherwise you will not be sent test results
1. Disinfect the surface where you will open the collection kit. Wash hands with soap and water (or hand sanitizer) then remove and lay out the contents of the kit.
2. Remove the swab from the package. Do not touch the soft end with your hands or anything else.

Nasal Test


3a. Insert the entire soft end of the swab into your nostril no more than 3/4 of an inch (1.5 cm) into your nose.
4a. Slowly rotate the swab, gently pressing against the inside of your nostril at least 4 times for a total of 15 seconds. Get as much nasal discharge as possible on the soft end of the swab. Repeat for your other nostril.
5a. Gently remove the swab.

Oral Test


3b. Insert the entire soft end of the swab into your mouth.
4b. Slowly rotate the swab, gently pressing against the side of your mouth at least 4 times for a total of 15 seconds. Repeat for other side of the mouth.
5b. Gently remove the swab.

Preparation for Specimen Return


6. Place the swab in the sterile tube and snap off the end of the swab at the break line, so that it fits comfortably in the tube. Place the cap on the tube and screw it down tightly to prevent leakage.
7. Please write your First and Last name, as well as Date of Birth on the tube. If it asks for sampling date, please put your Date of Birth instead.
8. Wash hands or re-apply hand sanitizer.
9. Place the tube containing the swab in the biohazard bag provided and seal the bag.

Returning the Specimen and Clean Up


10. Give the bag with the swab to testing personnel or follow the instructions for returning the specimen for testing.
11. Throw away the remaining specimen collection kit items.
12. Finally, once again, wash your hands or re-apply hand sanitizer.
